Entry Requirements
- Must be a registered staff nurse/medical assistant, preferably with 6 months working experience in a haemodialysis unit.
- Must have full secondment and a form of endorsement from their relevant authority.
- Hepatitis Status – must be negative

- Applied renal physiology
- Principles of dialysis
- Haemodialysis procedure and nursing care
- Infection control
- Dietary aspects and chronic haemodialysis
- Rehabilitative aspects on chronic haemodialysis
- Ethical issues in dialysis
- Principles of management
- Counselling skills
- Water treatment and its short-term and long-term complications

Activity Highlights
- Clinical experience will be gained primarily at NKF centres under local preceptors. Visit to a water treatment plant and an RO water treatment system factory.
Certificate of competence awarded with course and for both courses, ‘Outstanding Student’ awarded.
