ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

National Kidney Foundation Of Malaysia has for 40 years been the leading Non-Profit NGO in the fight to save the lives of Malaysian’s suffering from kidney disease. What is unknown by many is that our commitment extends further than just dialysis treatments for the hard core poor and needy public, who would die without NKF’s vigilance.

After our regular NKF office hours are over, the commitment to saving lives and enhancing the quality of life for Malaysian’s continues.

Most of our staff do charity work on their own, or as members of charitable organisations at weekends as well. A recent example of this was seen on Sunday, April 18th, 2010, when NKF staff, who are also members of the Lions Club of P.J Metro, lent a hand with the “Recycle Paper Into Lives” campaign. Every couple of weeks, the team patrols the P.J area and collects as much paper for recycling as possible. The paper is then exchanged into value useable funds which goes to help the needy.

The latest round of this ongoing effort saw over 920kgs of paper collected which translates to RM460.00.

While some may say that a whole day’s effort to collect under RM500.00 hardly seems worth it, think of it this way. If a group of around 20 people can raise RM500.00 in one day or RM25.00 per person on average, multiply that by the 24 million plus Malaysians it would result in RM600 million per day that can be utilized to save lives!

What have you done this weekend?
Lend a hand and save a life.
If you don’t know how or where, please feel free to contact us and we can provide you with the information.

Smart Kids 2010 ~ Malaysia's Largest Kids' Education Fair
Organiser: Expomal International Sdn Bhd

Date    : 9 April – 11 Apr 2010
Venue  : Putra World Trade Centre, KL (Booth no. 3168)

As a non-profit organisation the National Kidney Foundation saves lives through the donations of caring corporations and generous private sponsors. It is extremely important that we take every possible opportunity to create public awareness and to have the chance to raise funds for our patients to be able to receive subsidised dialysis treatments.

We would like to thank not only all the public for their generous contributions but we would like to extend a special thanks to Expomal International Sdn Bhd as the event organizer and Smart Kids as the host. Without their constant commitment, help and generosity in donating a free booth for us to operate from, it would be impossible to operate the 24 dialysis centres and 369 dialysis machines which provide over 4,000 separate treatments per week.

For this particular event, we created a new and unique activity to drive interest in our booth. For every RM5 donated, the children were given a pin to pop a balloon of their choice. Inside the balloon was a lucky voucher that they could redeem for a gift. Prizes ranged from drinking bottles to mugs and chocolates to T-Shirts. The gimmick attracted over 150 children. Some of whom were so excited with the game that they played again and again.

This particular event was very touching as life threatening kidney related illnesses are always thought to be endured only by the older generations. Unfortunately, even children from as young as 2 years old suffer from these illnesses.

Amount raised RM880.00
